watching porn in private
February 4, 2006 at 2:13 pm | In Uncategorized | 1 CommentAs technology has increased over the years so has the privacy of viewing pornography. In the beginning the only way to see a pornographic movie was to go to a sketchy theater and watch it. However, when the VCR and Camcorder were introduced to society many people took advantage of the new ability to view porn from their living room in private. This not only allowed people who were typically unable or too embarrassed to watch porn but also allowed people to watch porn multiple times a day. Although there are now many different and very private ways to view pornography it is still considered taboo in many rich communities to watch it. Those that are rich and do watch it often travel to other parts of town to obtain videos or even buy pornography off the internet.
The part that I found most interesting about how watching pornography is considered taboo in today’s society especially for the wealthy, is that in the olden days the rich males were the only ones who were able to view pornography. The wealthy or privileged males of the olden days could view “smokers,” while the poorer middle class were unable to afford to watch them.
In a way it almost seems that pornography has a way of defining what social class you’re in today. For example, if you’re a wealthy male and you watch pornography you will most likely not be considered to be proper. However, considering how many people watch pornography you shouldn’t be thought of any less than a poorer man who watches pornography.

[...] Interestingly, this post got me thinking. The idea that porn is dirty and a taboo, seems to be not only to the wealthy but quite a big majority as well. It’s ironic how the wealthy were the only ones who had access to porn back then. Somehow it reminds me of those unknown secret “clubs” which were guarded sacredly and available exclusively to the rich and famous. As the society develop economically and morally, views on pornography changes. Education plays a very important role on the changes. People are taught morals and manners that are expected of a lady and a gentleman. [...]
